I'm moving to an apartment right across the street from where I work tomorrow and the Cable won't be switched on until Wednesday.

I'm already starting to jones!

Lots of upside though - $50.00 less a month in rent and I'll be able to walk to work AND the grocery store. Going from a 35 mile round trip daily commute to a 300 yard walk to work! Yay!:woohoo: Bigger and nicer place, too.

So, I'm leaving DU forever.

See ya Wednesday.

2. Touch screen tech scares me.
I'm afraid if I do something wrong, I'll launch the Shuttle (like tonight - beautiful liftoff, BTW) or cause the crash of a 3rd world economy whilst trying to access an LOLDog pic.

4. I do know what you mean...
I typed "Slinner" instead of "Skinner" today... guess it could have been worse.

That's what I get for multi-tasking (I'd taken hubby to the eye doc)!

3. Read books.
Portable, no electricity or cable connection required.

5. Read em all.
Ask me anything.

hee hee. Yeah...I think I'm actually looking forward to it, really. I do have several recently purchased books that I've only started. It will give me time to get through a couple of them, anyway.

7. Yes. I hope your situation has returned to some semblance of normalcy.
I realize my minor inconvenience pales in comparison to what you've been through.

How long did it take before electricity was restored?

I've lived in Florida on and off over the years and have been through a couple hurricanes but I missed all the big ones. It's been a very long time since I've had to go 2 weeks without power. I think the last time I lived through any kind of extended power outage was when I lived in Detroit in the 90's. A blizzard knocked it out and it was off for all of 3 days in the neighborhood I lived in. It was barely an inconvenience because I had gas heat, stove and hot water, the water still flowed and the fridge was - well... outside!

8. We were without power for 2 weeks, it wasn't so bad.
We had limited power but that was for making ice, keeping food cold and running one ac unit.

It was nice guiet peaceful time.

Time just stopped for awhile.

The house was so quiet, and it was fun walking around the neighborhood after dark.

It was a good time to slow down and relax.

Nice to hear that you are moving so close to work, now you can sleep longer in the morning.
