See this Switch? how do I REMOVE it?

I need to know how to remove the round dimmer switch part. The panel is obvious.

Thanks.

1. Should pull straight off
It's on a ribbed shaft.

Yeah, I know — but leave it alone.

5. Duct tape?
Seriously, just jerk it really hard and it should get off  but, seriously, that's what you need to do all sexual innuendo aside. If you are switching away from a dimmer, just get a pair of pliers and rip that bad ass off.

10. shouldn't it just pull right off?
And why would you want to get rid of it? Dimming the lights might come in handy, you know, if you want to score a little ooh la la...

24. On a more serious note - get one of those large meat forks and slide it behind the knob and pull
towards you if it's really that hard to just pull straight off...

I just had to re-wire my bathroom light to put in a new light/fan combo and a dual switch a couple weeks ago and it had the same thing...

If you don't have a fork - loop a wire around it and tie the free end around a broome handle and then pull.

Good luck!
