4. It really is isn’t it?
We use vegetable broth and sweet onions. Then usually a mix of Parmesan and mozzarella sprinkled over nice sour dough, hopefully a heel. Putting it under the broiler gives it the wonderful bubbly brown crust.

9. Love 'em. If I don't use 'em for toast, I turn 'em inside out and make
grilled cheese. Yummmm.

10. When it comes to sourdough bread
we three love the heel (and toe?) of the loaf. :)
I often hand them to my growing boy, he needs them more than I do!

16. Yep -- Me too. I stick 'em in the freezer until I have a Caesar salad craving.
Out they come to be cooked up with oil and garlic. :9

13. We used to fight over the heels
In my family. Now that we're older and more polite we go the "Oh no, I want you to have it!" route. But we're secretly pleased when we get it.

This only applies to real bread, of course. The stuff from the bakery, or - if you're lucky - a grandma or friend who still knows how to bake. That pre-packaged artificial crap like Wonderbread doesn't count.

15. I like my toast burnt.
Heels, I can take 'em or leave 'em. I do leave them for last, though, as leaving the heel on the end of the bread keeps the bread fresher. (also refrigeration if you're like me and don't eat your bread up in a couple days.)

18. I eat heels
I chew them up and swallow them, absorbing their mana...Thusly the next heel I meet has less of a chance against me, because I know their power!
