Whenever I hear a small plane fly over, I think of my dad. |

He died when his ultralight crashed on January 10 this year. It still seems unreal, but the grief is waning.
Anyway. Not for sympathy, just today's non seqitur.

2. Your dad loved flying, didn't he? |
|
One of my first publishers was a WWII veteran, a flight instructor and a private pilot who took me for many flights above the Platte River Valley in Nebraska. Whenever I hear a small plane fly over, I think of him and how much he loved initiating others to that spectacular view.
No sympathy, but I do understand a little.

He finally got his dream, an ultralight, and he built it himself. I've never known him happier. He only got to fly it for about a year and a half, but I daresay he was never happier than when in the air. As I've said before, he died doing what he loved.
