My 39 year old brother in law passed away of a heart attack today.

I come from a long line of short-clockers.

I have two brothers dead from heart disease, ages 30, and 40, father 45, great-grandfather... and the list goes on.

If your inlaws have Celtic roots, one thing they should check for is Hemochromatosis; an often undiagnosed condition that leads to early heart attacks and other illnesses for no apparent reason.

My two surviving brothers have been confirmed positive for Hemochromatosis and are undergoing treatment.

I talked to my mom again a few hours ago. She said my sister is doing "as well as can be expected." Mom said my niece understands what happened. Like, me, everyone is very much still in shock. My sister's in-laws are there and are obviously and understandable very upset.

If you're in the early stages of an upper respiratory infection (URI), AKA a cold, then you could be passing that virus around. But if you started with a cold a week or two back which has now progressed on to a sinus infection (a bacterial superinfection often following a viral URI), then you're not contagious, especially if you're being treated with antibiotics.

Good handwashing, as always, is your friend. Go be with your sister and family.
