Poll question: Have you ever been arrested?
Saw this posted at Daily Kos and thought I'd put it in the lounge. My arrest, many years ago, was for disturbing the peace and I was rewarded with a Memorial Day weekend in jail. The most boring three days of my life.

1. So many to choose from.

EDITED TO ADD: I chose felony, but I could've chosen any of them except "No" and the protest one, including "Other."

17. I did that too.
And ditto the arrest part.

In all, I got caught 5 times in 4 years. The town cops were so happy once I turned 21. :D

12. Yes. The charges were dropped, though.
I was young (18) and naive, and I used my own photo ID to let a friend of my ex's rent a welder (he was doing some kind of motor work on his Trans Am, and claimed that he didn't have an ID to rent it on his own. I thought I was being nice.)

He didn't bother actually *returning* the welder until a month later, by which time the rental company had filed charges against *me* for fraud, including a county cop coming out to my house to arrest me. However, the rental company knew full well that the welder wasn't for me, and wasn't going to my house--the other guy had been right there, and was the one who paid for the welder via a check. My only role was allowing my ID to be used.

The judge told the rental company that they were basically full of shit, that I hadn't committed any criminal action, and that he didn't appreciate them using his court to try and get money out of me (which is basically what it was about, as the welder had already been returned by the time we went to court.) He dismissed the case and that was that. I learned a lesson though--that was the first time anyone had ever taken advantage of me, and I remember how shocked and hurt I felt. *sigh*

13. Yes I have been arrested a lot.
So much so I was on a first name basis with the deputies at the county intake. I was a real idiot when I was younger. I haven't been arrested since I was 19.

14. No.
But I have been cuffed and put into the back of the patrol car because my boyfriend's ex-wife filed a false report that he had a gun (he didn't) so they cuffed both of us until they got the story straight.

18. No, but the Chicago PD put me in a holding cell
for a couple of hours when I was 16. The guy I was in the car with was trouble, and they were doing a little scared straight theing with me. It worked.

Another occasion, in my early 30's, the Chicago PD pulled over a car I was in and with handguns drawn and pointed at the 4 of us, dragged us out and against the wall and frisked us on suspicion of drugs (selling? Buying? Don't know). Turned out to be a case of mistaken (car) identity and they let us go on our merry, now-shaking way...

Oh, and about 2 years ago my ex-'s boyfriend tried to have me arrested, because his vintage motorcycle got trashed and he blamed me, with no proof, and when the cops called me and threatened to arrest me, I told them where I was and invited them on down. They of course, knew better and were just being all macho and shit. I laughed at them before I hung up, never knowing if they were actual cops or this guy's friends...
