MTV's TRL coming to an end tonight.
For those in my generation, we'll remember and know this program mainly when Carson Daly used to host it. Holy shit, I remember when rock music used to be on the charts there. That seems like a while back. Just about a decade. Damn, I'm young, but life changes very quickly.

1. It was all mainstream pop music, much of it bad, but at least it was music.

Giving credence to the term Music TeleVision.

I'm being totally serious here: Does MTV still play music? At any time whatsoever.

All I see now are incredibly fake "reality" shows. Does anyone actually care about "The Hills"?

2. Only the rich people who have time to watch it.
:P

I agree, and I remember Daria. I really liked Daria. That was a cool show.

3. I liked Daria.
What I loved, however, was Sifl and Olly. You know, the two singing sock puppets?

What's worse is that I wasn't even a stoner and I loved Sifl and Olly. I considered it sock puppet therapy during a rough stretch in my college years.

MTV died the day J.J. Jackson was taken off the air.

8. And I will remember Carson Daly mainly from the greatest line in Jimmy Fallon's career:

"Hi, I'm Carson Daly, and I'm a massive tool."

He was, and he shall be, evermore.

9. Yeah, this is not altogether a bad thing.

This is the show that put a whole bunch of shitty corporate music out there for public consumption. On the other hand, it's been on the air for ten years (though after Carson left it sucked even more.)

Daly just mentioned something about the Jimmy Fallon thing too!

10. He's gotta own it, like Tucker Carlson owns THIS:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFQFB5YpDZE

Although I'm sure Fallon meant it in fun, and Daly seems like he would be cool about it.

Stewart, on the other hand, meant it because he meant it.
