A family member has a 1954 Ford that he is working on but can't get the tail lights to work. Is there some kind of a temporary workaround for that? Some kind of tail light-brake light system you can attach to the rear of your car for safety reasons while the old ones aren't repaired yet?

Just thought I would ask.

1. Tow/trailer lights.
You can usually find them at an auto parts store. You have to wire them in, but they should work. Most tow lights are magnetic and stick to the trunk. Trailer lights you could somehow affix to the car temporarily.

2. You could get
some of those magnetic tail lights like you use when you tow a car and hotwire them to the switch, as long at the headlights aren't a problem.

Don't ask me what this means. I'm quoting my SO. :hi:

3. are the dash lights out too?
many times auto makers will wire the taillights and dash lights from the same fuse,so you know if they go out.

it's probably easiest to just repair the problem than attach other lights, usually it's a bad ground somewhere,or the bulb sockets are corroded.

BTW,'54 Fords look better when they have '56 Oldsmobile taillights grafted on,and i happen to have an extra set laying around...
