Woo-hoo Mayo called me and said the insurance company has approved my interferon for six months! YEA! (of course that means after 6 months I have to go through the merry go round again) but considering the heavy headache I have right now, that is great news (I will get it tomorrow!):woohoo:

was it just the end of a long process, or did you do anything differently/new in the past week that changed their minds?

8. They got the latest bloodwork probably... |
|
The one that showed my platelets skyrocketing again..and probably realized that paying for the meds is cheaper than a hospitalization.....

Are you sure that they know it's you? I mean, maybe they had you confused with someone else, so the "fuck with her as much as possible" protocols weren't followed?
Great news indeed! I hope that this gives you a bit of peace for a while!

Is there any way you can start the process over again in 4 and a half months so you do not run out of the Interferon?

I think I will remember to submit my request about three weeks early next time (I don't think I can go more than that)..However I think I will just make sure I fax my bloodwork MYSELF up to Mayo after my doc visits here so that Mayo stays current...

13. Congrats! I don't know you, but have dealt with so much health insurance company |
|
opposition to my needed health care that I sure do know how frustrating it can be. As if the illness itself isn't bad enough, you practically have be a secretary, bookkeeper, lawyer, researcher, activist and more to get the health care you need.
Best wishes for future success and good health.

Ever since I went to Mayo Clinic in April and got prescribed the interferon its been a battle with the insurance company...Even though there is tons of scientific data that interferon IS helpful, its not FDA approved so the insurance company has a reason to fight...Fortunately having Mayo Clinic on my side is a HUGE help!:)

19. Yeah, well F*ck the FDA anyway. A lot of what they aprove is not worthy. Health |

maybe you'll be feeling well enough to make a trip to the track! I might just make a trip to the Preakness this coming year myself. If you hear someone yelling, "Hey, fuckstick" at one of the jocks that'll be me.

I just need to find someone to go with..Oh well. But now that they've passed slots in Maryland maybe I won't have to worry so much about the Preakness disappearing....:) Good to see you around Sid!:hi:
