I fear I am addicted to pumpkin pie.
I don't go to the trouble of making them, as I can purchase perfectly delectable pies elsewhere. (My mom used to make them completely from scratch, hollowing out the pumpkin herself, and there's nothing more scrumptious unless it was my dad's homemade peach ice cream.) Fortunately my weight is lower than it's been in a couple of years, but I must refrain from buying more pumpkin pie!

1. Pumpkin cheesecake is my downfall
Last year we were at a local chain bar/restaurant, and after we were finished eating, Mr. MG made the mistake to taking MG Jr. to play the video games on the other side of the restaurant. I paid the bill but also got a "slice" of pumpkin cheesecake to go. The damned thing was HUGE--a giant cube of pumpkiny goodness, complete with three little plastic containers of whipped cream. Took me three sittings to put that sucker away. But I did it.

2. Ooh, that sounds good
I'm not a cheesecake person, but if it's pumpkin-related I could probably be persuaded!

5. You say that like it's a bad thing
Made from scratch--and as a pumpkin pie instead of the traditional pumpkin chiffon pie (the latter being full of eggs and dairy to make it a custard, really)--it's really a healthy thing to eat. I use egg replacer and/or a couple tablespoons of flour to help hold it together, a little soymilk, just enough sweetener, and a ton of spices. Oddly enough, mine is always the first to disappear at family dinners (WW crust and all).

The real problem with pumpkin pie is that you put toppings on it. I need to figure out how to make the perfect soy-based butter pecan ice cream because that's the ultimate combination. :)

6. I learned to make my own. You might never want to do that -
I buy many cans of pumpkin and store them for use all yeaar round, so I don't have to wait for fall.

I make great apple pies, too, and will be making peach pies from frozen peaches for thanksgiving, along with the pumpkin.
