Whats your favorite new place to eat?
OK, I ask this because I've found a simply awesome place here in Columbus (and I'm going there as soon as I post this). Its called Eggs and I'm really loving a lot of their food. They do breakfast in the afternoon and all night. Tonight I'm going for the "Classic breakfast" Eggs, hash brown casserole (best there is), bacon, two biscuits and sausage gravy. Best of all, its right across the street :9

2. My dear Ohio Joe...
That sounds wonderful, and you sure can't beat the location!

We don't have a favorite NEW place to eat; we eat lunch nearly always at the local McCormick and Schmecks...(sp)

They're a nation-wide seafood chain, but their food here is outstanding...

As is the service...

We eat lunch there several times a week and they all know us and take good care of us...

Enjoy your meal, sweetie!

:hi:

mmm, I ate and fell asleep on the couch, it was wicked tasty :)

Seafood you say hmmmm, that is one of the big things I miss living here in OH. When I lived in MA there were tons of good seafood places to go, out here... not so much, hahahahahaha

20. Chinese food I find to be sort of like pizza
A lot of times people like the kind they had where they grew up the best. Back in Jersey, my favorite was sweet and sour chicken but ever since I left it is a completely different dish. Here in Ohio, they put this red sauce on it. Very sweet, too sweet for my tastes.

26. I avoided vegan for a long time
I admit, I really dismissed it as "sticks and twigs", thought it would be bland and tasteless. That was until a friend of mine and his wife decided to go vegan. They had a party, Traci made all of the food herself and I was really surprised not only at the variety but all of the different tastes, lots of really good stuff.

While my opinion on it has changed, I really don't think I'm ready to give up meat though, its too darn tasty as well :D

15. Sounds like a Waffle House to me.
At 3am your choices of eating out are rather limited around here. McDonalds started doing 24/7 at some places, so there's that. Sheetz does food and they're 24/7 even though they're really a gas station. Or a glorified convenience store that happens to sell gas. And then there's the Waffle House.

Yes all three are "heart attack waiting to happen" type foods. But if you're lazy like me at times and don't fancy cooking and had a lousy day and want a bit of comfort, Waffle House can be a nice treat now and again.

But as for favourite new place to eat? Hmmm... a place I recently went to was Hillbilly Hideaway, almost literally in the middle of nowhere near Walnut Cove, NC (NNE of Winston-Salem). It's all-you-can-eat, but it's not buffet - instead they bring bowls of food to your table and you help yourself out of that, a la family style dinner. Your bowl gets empty? No problem, they will refill it for you! They're only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the same thing is on the menu each time: Friday is fish, Saturday is ribs, Sunday is meatloaf. Also the weird (to me) thing is that they allow you to write on the walls. Yep, bring a big fat marker folks, you can leave your mark on the restaurant. Bad news is it is a fundie-area, so you see the "Vote for McCain" on the walls in a couple of places - plus down the road there's a barn with a huge "W' on it. But you go there for the food and next door for the southern gospel singing...

Mark.

30. Funny story
When I first started coming to Columbus in the 90's, I had a jones for spaghetti and meatballs one time. My buddy Pat and I were directed to a local place, Buca di Beppo. A strange place, it is a maze of little rooms, lots of little rooms. We were seated in a small room that had no one else in it and when the waiter came, I ordered my Spaghetti and meatballs and the waiter said "Very good, I'll bring it right away" and then started walking away. My buddy Pat says "Hey! want to take my order too" the waiter comes back looking at us like we were nuts but took his order without saying anything and went to put our orders in. Pat and I spent the time waiting for the food talking about how weird the waiter was, hahahahaha, boy were we surprised when he brought the food, enough for at least 10 people, hahahahahahahaha.

on Magnolia Street. Both are fabulous.

Nonna Tatta's is a special occasion type of place, too many calories to eat there often.
Thai Tina's has an abundance of light foods.

There is a new Mediterranean place that I have been wanting to try but have not made it there yet.

49. "Mamma's": it's a pizzeria in Calabria, Italy.
Naturally, their pizza kicks ass. First went there four years ago. Unfortunately, I can afford to eat there like, once every four years, so I've eaten there all of twice. Not a bad little beer selection, bar is okay. But seriously kick-ass menu.

Otherwise, there's a kind of Bar & Grill on Street Road not too far from me (could possibly be Feasterville, don't think it's Bensalem, not Philly for sure) called the Wingwalker Pub--now, that's a great beer list--Belgians, Scotch Ales, Imports, domestic micrebrews. Really different calamari--not battered, but breaded, and soft and not at all rubbery. Beautiful fish and chips. Great burgers and reubens. Top-notch scotch selection. My kind of place: the Musak is all classic rock and '80's stuff. I wish the place was just a hair closer with less bad traffic or I'd make it a regular pitstop so as to be refilled on tasty hot seasoned pretzels and flavorful booze as needed.

50. It depends on what I'm hungry for.
For seafood I love Hush Puppy. On Thursdays it's all you can eat fried clams, oysters, shrimp and catfish plus the cold boiled shrimp, for under $15. Throw in a huge margarita and you're still under $20 a head.

For pizza there's Big Mama's. Sadly they're a bit on the pricey side so I usually go with Papa John's or something decent but reasonably priced.

For Mexican I just can't get enough of these places we have called Roberto's Taco Shop. Fish burritos, shrimp burritos and chicken nachos that are just off the hook!

Mostly, though? I love it when my wife throws together a veggie stir-fry or a crock pot full of split pea soup. Healthier and a lot cheaper too. :D
