Auto Clubs, AAA and others, what are the best ones?
It's that time of year in the Midwest you start to think about car breakdowns and needing tows. Thankfully bad things on the road don't happen a lot but when they do it's nice to be covered. I'm just wondering if there are any good alternatives to AAA out there?

1. AAA is totally uncaring about environmental issues,
and strongly pushes driving, for whatever that's worth.

2. That's what I've been reading,
and a reason why I was wondering if there was anything else out there.

3. Better World Club?
http://www.betterworldclub.com/

I don't know anything about it other than what's on their web page.

6. I think this is the one they've talked about on Car Talk.
I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with them?

4. I had AAA for nine years.
In terms of service, I always had good luck with AAA. Had to have the old car towed a few times, and replaced the battery once--they do have a great idea, you can buy a battery from them and they will come to the house, install the new battery and take away the old one. They also have some good discounts for members--I used the Lenscrafters, the Amtrack, and a few others, so I can honestly say that I probably broke even between the membership fee and the services/discounts.

5. I've had them for a long time too.
But moving to a new state and my membership lapsing got me to wondering about any alternatives out there.
