1. I was much more impressed than I tought I would be...
The video for "Scare Easy"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wqb5Vllh9K4

I remember the lines in "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around"...

"There's people running 'round loose
in the world
Ain't got nothing better to do
Than make a meal of some
bright eyed kid
You need someone looking after you"

...and Petty, for better or worse at this point in his career, can never be the "bright eyed kid" again. Things have happened. He went into a prolonged and deep period of depression, as documented by a Rolling Stone article a while back.

The Mudcrutch song "Scare Easy" addresses that and basically spits in the eye of anyone who might wish to scare him.

:patriot:

2. Crazy mad love that number; don't know anything else about the record
nor Mudcrutch's original work 30-40 years ago, though the VH1 Classic documentary the other night suggested that "Don't Do Me Like That" was originally theirs. I'm starting to think that Tom has surpassed all his mentors and stands alone, and is likely to continue producing great music for another several decades. But then, back in the day, the best songs on every album were the ones co-written by Campbell; maybe Mike is the true genius.:)

4. I like Tom a lot but I don't remember that one
Googling produces your post from a year ago with a YouTube link, but alas, YT removed the video due to some violation or other.
