Thomcat Computer Update - we're $250 short of the goal

I went shopping this evening for a computer for Thom. I chose Best Buy because the Geek Squad in NYC can bring all the pieces and parts to his apartment on the 29th. They will install the software, connect him to his wireless network and make sure the printer, trackball mouse, webcam and Skype all work as they should. I'm also getting a 3 year in home warranty so he doesn't have to worry about repairs or sending the computer out (which he's physically unable to do).

I would like to get a mid-range computer with a flat panel monitor and a decent sized hard drive.

So, I've scheduled the appointment for installation (the day after his last day at work) and need a bit more to purchase the whole package.

Thom is slowing down quickly. I spoke with him this evening and he's slurring his words more. Please keep our dear friend in your thoughts and prayers. He's such a special soul.

18. If you need to save some money on software

Open office is a free download, and it's compatible with Microsoft office. That might help you get closer to the goal. I know MS Office is a few hundred bucks.
