Shadow died. She got run over.
When we were leaving this morning my wife, yelled "There is a cat in the ditch!". Without having even looked I knew it was one of our kittens. Yup, it was Shadow. Her face bloody and body all limp. A little grey furball. I don't know why though, they don't ever go out to the highway. I can only think that when I came out to warm up the car, she was hiding underneath it, it scared her and she bolted for the road where she got hit. Goodbye Shadow, you brought a lot of joy into two human's lives for a short period of time. You will be missed.

4. I am so sorry for your loss
How old was she?
I don't know where you are but in most places,it's getting really cold. That means cats seek places that are warm, like car engines. You really should keep them inside. If you let them out, get them in again in an hour or so.

5. She was 3 and half months.
Momma kitty and Shadow and her sister were outdoor kitties, but we were letting them come in because of the cold. They talked their way into being indoor kitties. My wife said all three of them had just been inside just moments before we left.

16. Pictures of Shadow
Shadow and Tiger were so playful. Momma Kitty and Tiger know she's dead now. They have been anxious since it happened, they comforted her and licked her in her last moments or at least what I think were her last moments. What saddens me most is thinking that the remaining kitties aren't going to have Shadow's camaraderie any more. Watching Shadow and Tiger play. Both kittens were weary of getting close to us humans but they both came around. Shadow would even come when I would call for the kitties, she would come fast, I don't know if it was because she wanted to see me or if it was the promise of food, LOL. Again she will be missed by Momma Kitty, Tiger myself and my wife.

And me, a grown man ballin' over a tiny little cat. Why did I get so attached?

21. My very favorite cat died that way. He insisted on being an
outdoor cat, and he looooved his time in the yard, sunning and chasing bugs etc.

He had a very happy life. I'm sure Shadow did too--sorry for your loss.

31. I am so sorry for your loss...
it brings back memories of my Smokey. She was a Himalayan pure bred. She chose me in every sense of the word. I was living in low cost housing in Vancouver, BC, pregnant with my daughter. A friend of mine had found her and brought her home, however her other two fur babies hated her. She came upstairs to visit and had to bring the cat with her. The cat wouldn't leave my apartment which worked out in the end as my daughter ended up with sleep apnea. Smokey would wake me up if I slept through the loud alarm.

She even attacked a police officer because he was not kind to my daughter. Somebody had phoned in a child abuse claim. They claimed that she was being abused because she was screaming loud and strong. She had an intestinal infection that is usually seen in toddlers, she was only 4 months old. Rather than sending the special car, known as Car 86 (social worker and police officer), they sent a regular car. :wtf: If they had sent the other car they would have known that I was in contact with the worker and in fact he has sent me to the drugstore in a cab because my local store was closed. The officer bursted through my door and roughly removed everything, clothing, monitor leads and diaper, after I had just gotten her asleep. Smokey was pissed! She went after that officer like no ones business. He tried to shoot my cat, however by that time Car 86 had shown up and cooler heads prevailed.

When we ended up on a blueberry farm in Richmond, she became an outdoor cat. I cam home one night to finding her in the ditch where a rat was trying to eat her. I pulled her out and buried her in the back yard.

RIP Smokey and Shadow.

I miss every one of my departed animals, and keep them with me in my heart.
Shadow was a lucky kitty to have you! If only for a little while.

My sympathies.

34. I am so sorry. We lost our Brandyman to the road years ago.
He disappeared one snowy night. I found him by the side of the road behind the house that looked
most like ours on the street. I think he got confused in the snow--we'd only lived in the house
for less than two months--and got on a busy street.

We usually put our cats out at night. It was so cold last night they got to stay in the house!
Between snoring and cats on the bed, I didn't get much sleep.

I'm so sorry you lost your Shadow.
