http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VwU_oS2ErQIt might be very cold out there. Fill those feeders. My snowbirds (dark-eyed juncos) have returned, yay! Carry on. :hi:

4. My poor goldfinches are probably mad at me |
|
I put cheap feed in their nyger feeder. Too costly at the moment.
Evidently, they are fickle :(

8. I haven't been able to afford the feed for our feeders but we did |
|
leave up our huge sunflowers and the birds and squirrels have been having a grand time with those. One large sunflower head, about the size of a basketball has been the main attraction for 2 bluejay. The head is hanging so the birds land on the back and do this little somersault to reach the seeds on the underside.

I had one successful jumbo sunflower that lived. It is out of window-shot so I didnt get to watch the backflips. It was devoured though :)

9. We were feeding the birds last year and the rats took over! |
|
Our complex discourages feeding (although it breaks my animal loving heart as I would feed anything with wings or 4 legs)as it brings rats around.
I had no idea about this and couldn't believe it until I saw them myself -in broad daylight- walking around on our patio. Yikes!
