I just got one of those snorkel jackets...

You know those ones with the faux fur lining on the hood. Well, I got one of those made in China (I'm broke and need a winter coat.) and I've heard stories of some of these jackets coming out of China having hoods lined with dog fur and being labeled as fake fur. How can I tell if the jacket I've bought has a fake fur lining instead of a real dog fur lining?

1. Wet it, and see if it smells like a wet dog?

I'm more or less serious, here. I'd expect artificial fur to still have no smell when wet.

2. Look in between the hairs-woven/knit material or skin?

Snip a few hairs. Light with a match. Does it smell like burning hair or not?
