Well, it's been a hellish night at DU for me... |

Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 04:28 AM by Gringo
I think I've finally wrapped up a totally annoying flamefest of my own design...
Anyway, here's wishing everybody at DU of EVERY persuasion a good night and a pleasant tomorrow (no sarcasm).
G'night!

Including those I was embroiled in flaming with.
There should be nothing to flame since it was all my fault.
I'm just venting my exhaustion and exasperation at having finished the thing.
Anyway, I softened up the 1st post a bit...

In the future, it may be helpful to express your concerns as questions, rather than statements.
For example: "WHY do you think Brandon Teena behaved the way he did?"
as opposed to "Brandon Teena behaved in a way that warranted his murder"

Thanks for being so civil throughout.
PS: "Brandon Teena behaved in a way that warranted his murder" no...
"Brandon Teena behaved in a way that made his murder more likely to happen"
(PLEASE don't continue the debate on the mentics here - just clarifying what I was trying to say, I realize I wrote it in a way that could be interpreted as what you wrote.) "deserve" and "at higher risk of" are two VERY different things. The thread was about my reaction. If we were talking about a court case, I would say that NONE of Brandon's risk-taking before the killing should be admissible, because it is irrelevant to whether John & co. committed murder. NOTHING Brandon did could be construed as something that could excuse that atrocity.
Nothing warrants the horror that was visitid on that kid. I'm very glad that John got the death penalty. Good riddance to an evil, cruel man. I thought the henchman was worse, I don't know exactly what his sentence was, but it seemed to be more lenient because he testified against John. He seemed to be the meaner of the two, so I hope he gets at least life.
Sorry to blather on here - not my intention to continue that thread - AT ALL.
