5. Out loud
I LOVE that show. And all those wonderful actors should be gainfully employed in a great show like that.

Lordy, what's this world coming to? Oh wait, I know--police procedurals and reality shows 24/7. Whoopee.

8. Only if we let the producers know.. ABC too, since they are the parent company of
some cable stations. We ought to google for some mega-fansites. They may already be lobbying and we can join in.

It's the very definition of the word "quirky". It's just a relief that it's not a police procedural or reality TV.

20. On the plus side, Fuller will be going back to "Heroes"
In the wake of coexecutive producers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander getting fired from Heroes, online fans have been crying out for former Heroes writer (and Pushing Daisies creator) Bryan Fuller to rejoin the show. Apparently, somebody is listening. Fuller told EW.com that he's open to a comeback. "I am exclusive to Daisies through the delivery of the 13th episode of our 13-episode order, which will be mid-January," says Fuller. "If Daisies isn't picked up by then, I will definitely be going back to play with my friends at Heroes."

http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2008/11/heroes-1.html

But I'm mad about "Eli Stone." It would be nice if they would give these shows some time to find an audience.

I haven't been very fond of Heroes this season. It could use some of Fuller's clever plotting and oddball humor to give it a boost.

Could never find it when it was on.

I see that it was on last night. Who knew? It wasn't like they ever promoted it. I don't think I ever saw an ad for it. Reminds me of what ABC did to Sports Night.

29. Pity, but I'm not surprised

PD's ratings have been rather dismal. But the knife through the heart is that PD was fairly expensive to make too. Thus, in order to survive, PD needed better than average ratings to justify its existence. Obviously, it wasn't doing that.

Edit--

PD got a 1.8 rating last week and has been struggling to earn a 2.0 rating per airing this year. No show will live long with those numbers. Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone seems to have been deep-sixed too.

33. That just means people are generally dumbasses though right?
The general public would rather watch a few families on a diet or strangers pick a briefcase than an actual TV show worth watching.

I heard they also dropped My Own Worse Enemy.

We need a new network of dropped programs.

:grr:

35. Lots of factors, but that's a pretty big one
There are intelligent viewers out there, but the TV execs don't believe it and pander to the lowest common denominator.

Plus, they're not getting an accurate picture of TV shows' ratings. I was just reading an article about how the networks gather ratings, and the person they interviewed admitted that their system is outdated--they can only collect the numbers of viewers watching a show "live" in its proper timeslot. Then, later, they can collect the numbers of people who watched it on DVR and online, but those numbers aren't included in the ratings total. (Caveat: One of those methods of viewing might be counted and the other not--I'm forgetting what the article said exactly.)

So if the more lower-common-denominator viewers watch dumb shows live all the time, but the more creative, intelligent viewers watch the more creative, quirky shows on DVR or online more often than watching them live, it appears that the dumb shows have bigger followings. It's ridiculous.

38. Crap. I knew it was only a matter of time but still....
That show was one of the true production victims of the writers strike and ABC didn't do it or them any favors by not re-running the previous season's 9 episodes as a lead in to the current season opener.
