Why did you do it?

I used to hate it, but I would do it anyway.

3. I used to do it whenever I saw a free 9 volt battery.
If it wasn't hooked up to something, it was gonna get licked.

29. I used to recharge 9-cent 9 volts
and lick them to see if they were actually recharged. That was back when regular dry cell batteries could actually be recharged.

15. that's a good idea, i have one in a thermoscan thermometer that i know is fairly new
i am tempted to walk down stairs and remove it.

My smoke detector batteries always seem to go in the middle of the night, the chirp every 30 seconds and then it echoes so it takes me an hour to figure out which one it is.

16. see, if you licked them every now and then
you would know which are weak... I suppose with practice and more patience than I, you could learn to detect voltage with your tongue.

25. I'm surprised our generation has a single brain cell left
after doing all that shit. Mercury, lead- I've handled it all.

I also used to jump off roofs, and I've been known to go for a rousing game of Jarts.

26. Oh jesus...we all used to carry jack knives...
And two guys would stand maybe 8 feet apart, facing each other with legs spread.

Then, you would flip your knife and try to stick it in the ground between their legs.

You were considered a "chicken" if their aim was off and you moved your foot out of the way.

I used to move my foot, because some of those fuckers would TRY to stick it.

20. Geek here raising hand.
It's called "testing" them. Part of trouble shooting in microphone and guitar pedal land. Oh, and I always had to test them, even straight out of the wrapper. Just to make sure. Yeah. Mmm...the briefest of discrete, mannered touches to my quivering tongue....

But I *never* licked them, pev.

31. Only the LITTLE PP3 batteries.
The stonking big ones used in big flashlights? Please do not do that at home. Not good.

I only did it to see if it was a good battery. If it was a case of a quick buzz then yep good battery. If I could hold it there and experience the sensation quite happily - sorry, dead battery.

Mark.
