Not only are they big in certain Sci-fi circles, they can be big tax right off for movie companies if they flop enough with the general public.

6. Not this (soon to be former SciFi viewer) |
|
They are all utter crap. Once BSG ends and I can finish off the series on DVD, all that I have from them are the two Dune miniseries. Of course other DVD grabs might be the early seasons of SG1, but otherwise I never watch it as there is nothing but utter crap on.

5. to keep old sci-fi actors employed? |
|
I saw a movie not too long ago with Gil "Buck Rogers" Gerard in it, with Bruce "Babylon 5" Boxleitner was the main star.
Saw another with Erin "Wilma Deering" Grey in it...another with Walter "Chekhov" Koening
and, a few with Dean Cain as well.

King of the Lost World...
the one with Gil Gerard was "The Bone Eater" which also had Veronica Hamel (Hill St Blues?), William Katt (Greatest American Hero), and Walter 'Chekov" Koening.

I tuned in for a few specific things, but even when I had a TV I'd pretty much stopped watching it. And I'm as bit a sci-fi geek as they come.

And they keep bad actors and scriptwriters busy, therefore supporting the economy.

14. It really is very disappointing ... |
|
I'll always sit through a Star Trek:TNG marathon, but they canceled "The Dresden Files" which was decent, and "Eureka" is OK though there are several stinker episodes per season. And the movies they offer are simply dreadful. Earlier tonight I heard one line of dialogue and then finished doing a few things, hoping to wander into the living room and see what was on. By the time I got there my husband had changed the channel and I asked him what had been on and he said "A truly crappy SciFi movie". Seems to be the general consensus.
Sigh.

23. You should be thankful. |
|
They're keeping people like Kevin Sorbo from becoming the next David Hasselhof. They're keeping these people contained where they can safely live out their natural acting lives instead of dangerously wandering out into the public and 'going viral'.

27. Yes, I did, too... the werewolf version of Fright Night |
|
Forgot what it was called, but it was almost a carbon copy of "Fright Night" only it had a werewolf and a female lead instead of a vampire and a male lead.

29. It's usually somebody's girlfriend in a production... |
|
company causing that trouble.
Or boyfriend.
Their series are kinda fun most of the time, and once in a blue moon they dig up a halfway decent flick, but they do need an infusion of cash and talent-- seems they stopped "Dune" when they ran out of money and things haven't been quite right there since.
