If I complain here about the way someone uses the Ignore function, is that 'calling out?'

I have a gripe and would like to share--without naming names, of course.

2. Possibly; but some people are just cowardly wankers who prefer to play games.
Can't win them all...

Otherwise, do share - everyone's circumstances are inevitably different. :D

3. The worst thing that could happen is a mod locks your thread.
Go for it.

4. Okay, here's the deal
Edited on Sun Nov-23-08 04:20 PM by Orrex
I wrote a complaining OP a little while back that was generally well received. Of the 40 (or so) total replies, 39 "got" what I was saying. Number 40, however, took issue with the way I'd handled the subject, saying that I was guilty of the same thing that I was complaining about.

I replied (somewhat snarkily, I admit), and this person PMed me to take further issue with my OP. I replied in turn, urging this person to "alert" on the thread if it was so egregious, and the person PMed again to reply.

But when I attempted to reply again, I found that "That member does not wish to receive private messages," which I guess is that person's business, but it seems like a cheap tactic IMO.

So what do you think? Is it cool to complain to somebody via PM and then give that person no way to respond?

I'm planning simply to ignore (lower case "I") the person after this thread, but I wondered what other options you might suggest.

6. Ahahaha. What is that person, like 8 years old or something?
Fugeddaboutit. Not much else you can do. That is pretty asshattish, however.

8. That has happened to me twice in my time in here at DU.
Both times were quite awhile ago. It was two different people at different times and referencing different threads.

Both times it was a nasty pm and both times there was no way to respond. Both times the person had personally attacked me in the thread as well.

I think it is cowardly and speaks volumes about the person sending it.

There are some real cowards here who love to act tough online, but then they disappear before having to go head to head.

I think your question is a good one. Whatever options you find, I will be interested to read them.

9. It's EXTREMELY cowardly. Probably the most cowardly shit one can pull on a message board.
"I'm going to send you a nasty PM, and you can't reply back! Nya nya!"

What the fuck ever. :eyes:

So, yeah, you're not the only one it bugs. If somebody's going to send you a PM to start an argument, they should have the spine to read your response.
