Refurbished iPods. Good deal or bad deal?
I'm considering the purchase of an iPod touch. I have never bought a refurbished product before. The price is certainly attractive, but I don't want to get stuck with someone else's problem either.

Any one with any experience in the matter? I don't want to sink serious money into something that may not hold up under normal usage.

2. Refurbs usually just had the battery swapped out.
When the battery on my ipod went bad (because I'd dropped it in a glass of sprite, which the guy at the apple store kindly didn't notice) I got it swapped out for a refurb of the same model. I've had the replacement for a year and a half now, with no problems at all.

6. you have no idea how sort of brilliant that is
I have a an English friend, and him doing an American accent always involves him telling some fictitious story about how "then I dropped my ipod in the coca cola". I'm telling him about this tomorrow.

7. I'd say good deal
My brother bought a refurbished video IPOD last year, and he hasn't had any problems with it.

8. I've had many, many iPods
Two or three of which were refurbs. No problem whatsoever.
You can also get a very inexpensive warranty on it, even if it is a refurb.

One of the iPods was from Apple itself and the other was from recoupit.

10.  A good deal on a new mp3 player
How does $80 for an 8gb flash-drive player sound? I just got one I LOVE. My whole reason for getting it is you can delete tracks on the fly, without having to hook the player up to your computer. By the time you get around to doing that, it's easy to forget which tracks you want to delete.

Here's the link on Amazon for anyone interested:

If not, too risky.

15. I bought two refurb Shuffles from Apple earlier this year
They still come with a full one-year warranty and you can buy the AppleCare extended warranty if you choose. I also have a friend who bought a refurbished PowerBook from them (about a year before the release of the MacBook Pro, hence the old school name) and she had no complaints--the case was flawless, the screen had no bad pixels, and it looked brand new.

16. Apple store refurbs are cool
I buy refurbs from Apple all the time. I've had at least 3 laptops and 4 iPods and never had a bit of trouble with any of them. Good way to save a few bucks.
