SOY! SOY! SOY! Soy makes you strong! Strength crushes enemies! SOY!
- 1 cup textured soy protein (the kind that comes in teeny tiny grains; see below)
- Vinegar (balsamic if at all possible, but plain works too)
- Ground garlic
- Dark mustard (Dijon if you feel fancy)
- Half of a finely chopped onion
- Half of a grated carrot
- One container than can hold at least six times the liquid volume of the aforementioned cup

Drop soy in container. In the now-empty cup, mix 1 part vinegar with 4 parts water (more vinegar if it's a lame-ass one, never more than half) so the liquid volume is about 90% of the soy volume. Add half teaspoon ground garlic. Squirt some mustard in. (Maybe some powdered pepper instead of the mustard, or in addition to.) Mix. Drop on soy. Stir until soy acquires approximate consistency of ground meat. (Won't take more than two minutes.) Drop grated carrot & onion. Stir a bit more. Eat cold.

I assure you it's fucking delicious. And has a ridiculously tiny amount of calories.

Makes a mess of my hormones. Soy = teh devil. I would try your recipe if it wasn't, though.

8. Fact: Soy milk is now cheaper than real milk.
Glad I weaned myself off of cow squeezin's awhile ago.

I've never seen that kind of soy in a bag; I'll have to check it out.

11. It's often sold as TVP (texturized vegetable protein)
and is great in chili, stuffed peppers, lasagna/pasta, tacos, etc.

Cheaper than the pre-seasoned crumbles, but adds a bit more work to reconstitute and season (and brown).

I've never eaten it cold but this sounds ok to me.

12. Thanks! I will try it.
Here's my contribution:

Broiled Tamari Tofu

1 pkg. firm low-fat tofu (this has a much firmer, less jello-like texture than other varieties)
Tamari (soy sauce)
Cooking spray

Spray a baking pan with cooking spray. Pour some tamari on a plate. Slice tofu into 1/8 to 1/4 inch slices. Dip both sides of each tofu slice and place on baking pan. Broil on high for 12 minutes. Turn slices & broil for 10 minutes more (or until browned).

These have a very nice texture & flavor. They can also be sliced up for a stir-fry.

BTW, I have been eating tons of soy for years... I don't have boobs & still sing baritone, so I think the feminizing properties are overrated ;)
