I just got back from the biggest clusterfuck ever! |
|
My aunt and uncle got a divorce (yeah, bad luck) but it was well over a year ago and their house has been on the market since JANUARY...they finally get a buyer like a month and a half ago and the closing was supposed to be this Wednesday. Well my aunt got an apartment about 3 months ago and moved most of her personal stuff out and basically told my uncle that he could have all the big items because she didn't have the room. My uncle is closing on his new place Wednesday as well so even if he couldn't get the furniture in any sooner, at least he could have it all packed up on the truck. Seems like a normal moving story, right?
WRONG! not with my fucking dysfunctional procrastinating family...instead of clearing out all the shit from the basement, garage and around the house that they knew they weren't going to keep at some point in the last 11 months, my uncle decides to start packing and throwing stuff out on Saturday!!! So essentially he is trying to clear out a 3 bedroom home with 10 years of crap in 4 days, including tons of old toys and clothes that their kids no longer want and could have been taken care of months ago...and to top it all off, my aunt's aunt died on Friday so there was the whole funeral and viewing to deal with.
Actually to really top it all off the people that are buying their house suddenly decided that they wanted to move the closing up to tomorrow at noon, which was something that my uncle found out at the funeral today...so basically he has to have everything out a day sooner than planned.
I needed to take a little break away from the madness, eat some dinner, vent a bit and have to go back over there in a little while

1. deadlines (actually a few days past, usually) are the ONLY way I ever get anything done |
|
with a crew helping you guys will get it done - might even have fun - be sure to order a few pizzas.
We cleaned out my Grandmothers house in couple of days. It wasn't too bad - get a roll off dumpster if you can. (big yard sale if there is time can be a help too)

2. I just had to get out of there for an hour |
|
unfortunately no time for a yard sale which is a shame because we threw out tons of stuff that he could have sold but just have no room to store. I did manage to score a few bottles of wine and vodka that he had in the pantry, so it wasn't all bad :P

3. See if a trash hauling company will drop a dumpster in the driveway |
|
fill it up and have them haul it away. I did that when I was moving. Amazing what you really CAN live without...
