I'm so depressed....
I went outside to fill the kerosene reservoir for the heater. While looking around the yard, I saw a dead bunny in the yard. We've been feeding them through the winter. Spring is almost here, and the bunny died before the good weather came.

I just got back in from burying it behind the flowerbed. :(

5. we've got plants...
but throwing out veggies for them in winter keeps'em close to the house, cutting down chances of being run over by cars.

6. A great man once said "Small mammals are quite flavorsome when baked"...

Take his advice. Get some carrots, flour, fat (bacon fat preferably), pepper, cloves, 2 onions, some garlic, bay leaves, vinegar, stewed tomatoes, tomato puree, and fresh mushrooms... if you dig hasenpfeffer of course...

In all seriousness, it is a sad site to see... I'd feel sad too. But with peak oil, why can't we have a laugh? We won't be in 3 years.

Edit: Added recipe URL... http://www.missouri.edu/~rsocjoel/rs150/recipes/hasen.html

10. Winter is hard on dumb animals.
Four-footed ones especially. I think Ma Fox is still around, but last time I saw her she looked really bad -- possible frostbite on the tail.

I don't want to lose Ma Fox -- she keeps the bunnies down --

you see almost as many strung up on fences or tottering around with mixo and/or calici as you do scampering about hapilly.

Aren't they feral pests in US as well?

Edit: hey over 700 posts! and it was a dead bunny one that did it
