I was answering nature's call when someone else walked into the bathroom and I swear to god said "Oh, my god, bring your own air freshener." I said, "well, this is a bathroom and shit stinks." She said - I swear to god - "you don't have to be crude."

We are all aware that on occasion nature's call involves a malodorous omission but it is quite impolite to suggest that the person in the other stall should be at the ready with an air freshener because it suggests that the person knew aforehand that the emission would leave an obnoxious odor.

However, such incivility may be met with a variant of Miss Manner's stock response for rude comments:
"How kind of you to take an interest."
