Here's my volunteer campaign history.

1988 primary: worked for Jesse Jackson.
1988 general: worked for Dukakis
1992-too busy to do anything
1996-too busy to do anything
2000 primary: supported McCain
2000 GE: worked for Gore
2004 primary-supported Clark
2004 GE- worked for Kerry.
2008 primary-supported Richardson, then Hillary Clinton.
2008 GE-worked for a local candidate. Ultimately supported Obama, but it was so close to the election I did not have time to jinx it.

Do you see a pattern emerging here? Any national candidate I support or volunteer for invariably loses. I may be more valuable to the D.s as a "cooler" in the enemy camp than in my own.
