What is it about sad events that brings out black humor? |
|
Our cat Siggy is slowly fading from FIP. He lost 2# in the last two weeks and hasn't eaten or drunk any water since Sunday. The problem is that while he's wobbly, he's still strong enough to do that cat thing where they go outside to hide when they're sick. It's cold and slushy out there, and I can't quite accept that slowly freezing to death is the best thing for him. So I have the cover placed over the pet flap so he can't sneak out.
Here's the humor, such as it is: the other three cats and Guinness the dog have spent the morning exploring the amazing mystery of why sometimes the flap works and sometimes it's blocked. The only time this door sees more traffic is when it's about -10 outside and every entrance and exit brings a refreshing blast of Arctic air across my ankles.

3. It's a sad thing, but at least so far he's slipping away quietly. I guess sometimes |
|
FIP can get really nasty.

4. Yes, it can. Have you thought about euthanizing him? EDIT: |

This is none of my business, and I don't ask by way of judgment.

6. So far I'm crossing my fingers about that. He doesn't seem to be in pain, |
|
just a little confused. If he starts seizing, we'll have to take him to the vet.

2. Many times people don't like to let others - or themselves - |
|
know how much things really affect them. It is a device that sometimes allows folks to do what is necessary despite emotional pain. It's not demeaning, really just a technique to allow us to be able to function. Our thoughts are with you.

5. I'm trying to get som ework done here, but it looks like my options are |
|
1. put Siggy in the cat carrier - I'm not wild about that.
2. check Siggy every 22 seconds to make sure he hasn't moved toward the door - makes it hard to work.
3. Get up every 2 minutes to let a cat or dog in or out as they go nuts because OMG! the door is blocked! OMG!now it's open! OMG! it's blocked again!

9. Some of my family's funniest stories revolve around funerals. It's the only thing |
|
that gets us through them.
Did I ever tell you about the crazy priest who showed up at my grandfather's wake and launched into a long prayer praising the Virgin Jesus?
