Items Canceled: 580640B - Bakugan Starter Pack- Red. ARGH!
Order # *********

Dear Oktoberain,

Thank you for your shopping with eToys. Due to overwhelming demand, we have been forced to cancel the backordered items listed above. Despite our every effort, we cannot give an estimated date of availability nor keep it on backorder. We want to assure you that the cancellation is not indicative of our normal level of service. We work hard to give our customers the best possible shopping experience and we regret taking this action.

As a reminder, your credit card has not been charged for this cancelled backordered item, since we only charge your card when an item is shipped. Again please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

Sincerely,
eToys Warehouse Services

That is the SECOND time I've been thwarted in my search for these $*%&^#@ Bakugan toys. K-mart, Wal-Mart, Target, AND Toys R' Us are all sold out of them. I really hope the others I ordered don't end up getting canceled too; I just cannot find them anywhere else.

And what's REALLY pissing me off are the outrageous price increases. We bought one of these for another kid's birthday party back in September, and paid $15.99 for it. Now they're going for $40-$50! For three little plastic marbles! It's effing insane. Here, look at this--you'll see what I mean:

Google Shopping Search for "Bakugan Starter Pack," search limited to $14-$19.

When you actually click on that link, you get THIS:

:grr: :grr: :grr:

All I'm saying is, they better not have canceled my order because they want to go sell them on eBay for three times the normal price. Ya know?

:nuke:

1. What IS it about Bakugan?
MG Jr. is 5, and hasn't tweaked to that whole addiction (yet), but the older kids I know are obsessed. What's the big deal?

2. Well, it's supposed to be a game.

Hell if I know how it's played, but anyway, it goes along with a popular anime cartoon of the same name. Still, none of the kids around here really care about the "game" part. They just love the little magnetic marble-creatures. OktoberKid has been seriously upset all semester because the other boys in his class trade these things all the time, and he never has any to trade. I wanted to fix that for him for Christmas--we don't have a lot, but we have enough for that, you know? Or at least we *did* when they only cost $15.99! But now, it's like they're the "hot toy" this year and they're either sold out or being sold at outrageously gouged prices.

Here's hoping that things settle down after Christmas. We'll have more money then--maybe we can get him some more, poor little guy. I still can't believe what an enormous hassle this has become. Ugh.

5. Can we say "marketing scam"?
Judging by the TV ads I've seen, there are hundreds of these marble-type popup critters to collect, right? Yeah. "Collect 'em all!" A latter-day Pokemon, I'd guess. IOW, it's always something.

I wonder...if the kids like collecting the marble-type thingies, whether they'd do the same with...oh, I don't know...regular marbles? But wait--they're inexpensive and there's no copyright. Never mind! :D

3. Whoa! That price gouging hurts my eyes!
Is there any way to ask the kid from September if he's bored with it yet? (And if he's saved the original packaging?)

4. ...

Yeah, that'll go over well. :P

OktoberKid was so proud of himself for buying a toy that he REEEEALLY wanted and giving it to another kid as a gift. He used his own money-from-Gramma stash, and we kicked in a few extra bucks to cover the difference and get the kid a card.

Now I'm just praying that the others we managed to find at a decent price don't get canceled too.

6. Aw, well that's so sweet that he looked past how much he wanted the toy.
I'm sure it won't blunt the pain if you can't find another one for him, but it probably made you really proud.

9. Woohoo!
THANK you! It looks like they deal through Amazon, too--although that's also where I found the one that got canceled, it was a different company. Amazon seems safer than some no-name dealer.
