7. ooo a double oven - nice! |

I did two pies earlier and some cornbread to crumble for the stuffing. Dinner tonight is left over beans and some hamburger "taco" meat + the rest of the fixings for make-your-own burritos.

This is one day of the year that I wish I had your double ovens. But then I used to do this entire meal in stages in a small apartment-sized oven when my other half and I were first joined.
Not really cooking tonight. Just prepped the turkey. This is my first farm fresh turkey and I wanted to give it special treatment so I'll be cooking the stuffing outside of the bird this year. Pulled a few missed feathers, removed the legs and wings because it was too big for my pan. Stuffed the cavity with lemons slices, fresh sprigs of rosemary, some slightly crushed garlic cloves, salt and pepper. Rubbed down with olive oil and salted and peppered on the outside. It's now in the fridge. The wings and legs received similar treatment in separate containers sans garlic. I'll roast it in the morning.
The other half did make two pumpkin pies from fresh pumpkin tonight and I have to make rolls tomorrow. All of that will be our contribution to dinner tomorrow.
I wish you and your other half and your daughters and their families a wonderful holiday filled with good cheer. I already know there will be lots of love to pass around the table with the food.
ETA: It's 11:30 here and now I go to bed. Good night and sleep well.

We will have a wonderful time tomorrow evening, no doubt of that!
And I wish you and your a happy time around your table too...I have no doubt that there will be much love there too...
Thanks!

This is the one time of year we could use a double oven.. Today was yet another trip to the store. We got a fresh free range Turkey, and I am brining it. I hope this is a good move because this is the most I ever spent on a turkey. Tomorrow I make dinner rolls from scratch, cornbread stuffing, and roast the bird. Ali has made the Cranberry sauce from scratch, and crust for tomorrow's pies.
Ah, feasting is afoot!!!

I'll bet your house will smell wonderful!
We ate the entire prime rib...well, it was just one rib! Gawd, it was good!
The pies are safely wrapped and in the refrigerator...
Tomorrow night, we'll be headed for Castaic for dinner with our youngest daughter and her family, plus his parents, and sister and her family!
It will be fun!
Feasting is afoot, indeed!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, sweetie.......and to the lovely Ali and the kids too!

The guy I buy my meat from at a small local farm delivered it to me on Tuesday. I had the same feeling about mine as you did but not so much because of the cost. I just wanted to do his fine product justice. I didn't brine mine, though. See my note to Peggy above.
I hope yours and Ali's came out as fabulous as ours did. :hi:

We had a wonderful prime rib at Claim Jumper today with family. I'm cooking a small turkey Saturday for Paul and I. I usually warn my friends that I'm cooking in case it causes an earthquake. Can you tell I don't cook much?
And Happy Birthday Peggy!

I've taken a two year break from family holiday dinners but tonight I promised to cook next year.
(My mom is so adorable. She's cooking and has called me every 20 minutes to double check some cooking type detail. I think she's just trying to make me feel good. lol)
May all your pie crusts be nicely browned.
