To all of you spending time with family and loved ones this holiday
First, consider yourself lucky. Many aren't. Many have no family or if they do, don't have the means to get to visit them.

My brother-in-law got a call yesterday that his brother was found unconscious and not breathing by one of his daughters. The EMTs finally got his heart going and got him breathing again in the squad. While at the hospital, his father (visiting the brother who had collapsed) had a heart attack. The father is going to be okay, but still has to care for his wife who's had Alzheimers for 15 years now.

My brother-in-law and his father will decide when BIL gets to Tennessee when to take his brother/his son off life support.

F will leave behind teenage triplet daughters who owe everything to their father. Yes, they can hug him, but he's not really there any more.

Sorry if this is confusing. And no, I couldn't make this up if I wanted.

Oh, and today's BIL's birthday.

Say a prayer for my sister and her husband.

Hug those you love and even those you love but don't get along with.

2. Thanks
My sister and her boys will spend a sad Thanksgiving knowing F has died. I don't know what will happen to the girls. I'm not sure if they're 18 yet, but their mother abused them and withheld food as punishment. F finally got them back a few years ago. My heart breaks for the girls. He was their rock.

6. You're absolutely right
there is no good timing. But a holiday makes it harder for the family because it's now the anniversary of a tragedy.

12. Thanks for the reminder of how precious life is lizziegrace.
Sometimes we get caught up in our day to day existence and forget that. My heart goes out to you and your family. It's even harder at the holidays when a tragedy like this strikes. Good vibes and prayers for you.

I spoke with my BIL last night. He left early this morning. His father is still in the hospital as the result of his heart attack. It's the father who doesn't know much now, as they don't want to trigger another episode. When my BIL gets there, they'll release his father and together, they'll decide based on medical tests and conversations with the doctor what to do next.

Apparently the girls don't have much information either. They sound almost cheerful on the phone. I think my BIL is making sure the girls are shielded as well, as they're only 15.

I'll know more tonight. This will be one the longest drives my BIL has ever made. x(

 to all of you. I'm thankful for this community.
