I received my first death threat
Wow. I feel special now.

This morning, I found this posted on the "NH Insider" discussion board:

if you could please jay walk near the corner of pearl and elm , i'll do you the
favor of not having to kill yourself , let's see @ 25mph how far an unsable
raven would splatter (260pds of sullivan @ 25mph = velocity of 2x2 , well
that put put part of you near bridge st. Forget the math your labotomy
won't allow anything more than raising parking fess , you doufis.

"Raven" refers to my screen name at NH Insider; Pearl and Elm is the intersection where my office is located.

Note the Freeper spelling of "labotomy" and "doufis".

I know who is behind this and it is being reported to the police.

4. Alert the mods!
Oh, on further review I see it wasn't the result of a GDP post.

Be careful.

5. Good
I'm glad you're taking it to the police.

It's not even safe to assume that the asshole is all talk.

Good for you. Be careful.

How did this person get your work location?

6. Did he also
mean to say "unstable" Raven and parking "fees"?

Before you explained your screen name, I thought maybe he meant to say "unladen sparrow."

This guy has a serious screw loose. Hope he stops stalking you soon. :hi:

7. Proper documentation and retention is pretty good life insurance.
I've had a number of death threats myself (welcome to the club!). My response is usually something like letting them know they'll be suspect #1 if something happens to me, now that the cops know about it.

15. Documentation
Since last winter, I have received about 60 rambling and ranting email messages from a local crank politician. I've saved all of them. I am pretty certain that this threat was posted either by this guy or by a kid who works at his restaurant and does a lot of his quasi-political grunt work.

8. A quote from a very good movie.
The Sting

Johnny Hooker: I gave him the breakout just like you said.
Henry Gondorff: And?
Johnny Hooker: 'S good. He threatened to kill me.
Henry Gondorff: Heck, kid, they don't do that, you know you're not getting to 'em.

:)

12. Blue Dog! You've hit the big time!
Even I can't aggravate people into hating me that much. How did you do it? (I wouldn't worry too much about this person actually doing something. By the look of things, he's still in the fourth grade).

All kidding aside, though--stay safe.

passed the drivers test.

Congratulations, and good work pissing these people off.

17. and to leave the threat on the answering machine, that one is my favorite
not that reporting it to the police, even with the recording is worth anything, in theory it's illegal to make threats, in practice they don't do anything

maybe if the person had money i could have sued for emotional distress but as per usual w. these creeps he was judgment proof and around here the police have actual murderers and drug dealers they don't bother to arrest, much less the maker of threats
