No WONDER Jon Anderson's pissed: FAKE Yes performs "Owner of a Lonely Heart" on Huckabee's show

Steve Howe's not there either...Rick Wakeman's kid Oliver stayed home too...it's basically Chris Squire, Alan White, and Benoit David (the bar band guy who's touring in place of Anderson, who's ill)...two of Huckabee's thugs sit in with the "band"...sounds like a competent bar band version of the real thing.

Yes’ Jon Anderson “Disappointed” That Band Recruited Replacement

9/24/08, 12:51 pm EST

Yes‘ Jon Anderson has spoken out about his band’s decision to recruit a singer off a YouTube rather than wait until Anderson fully recovers from an illness that will shelve him until 2009. On his website, Anderson says he’s “disappointed that, with the exception of one phone call from Alan, none of the guys have been in touch since my illness, just to find out how I am doing, and how we will foresee the future for Yes. And disappointed that they were not willing to wait till 2009 when I’m fully recovered.” The band had scheduled a 40th anniversary tour for this year, but rather than wait for Anderson, they hired Benoit David, the singer in a Yes cover band, to take over the microphone. “Of course I wish the guys all the best in their ’solo’ work, but I just wish this could have been done in a more gentlemanly fashion. After all Yes is a precious musical band.” Anderson says in conclusion, “This is not Yes on tour.”

6. As a guitar player, I'll always have a sense of awe regarding "Wurm"...
...Steve Howe's guitar solo at the end of "Starship Trooper," for the non-fans out there.

8. I'm glad White got to plug his charity, but the price was too high.
It would be one thing if they had those hacks sit in with them at some fund raiser, but to actually allow that to be broadcast had to be painful.

9. I'm guessing you didn't like the chicken-walking and guitar face on the bald guy in the suit...
...and I hear ya. For Yes to allow "guitar face" in the band at all is a heartbreak. I've seen Steve How and Trevor Rabin "grimace" and sort of APPROACH guitar face, but they never came close to this guy's showboat antics.

10. Showmanship only works when you got the chops.
I counted at least five flubs in the one ond only time I will ever listen to that clip. BUT, even if the guy did have the chops, (he doesn't) you still don't pull that crap when you're "sitting in", and certainly not when it's with a band like Yes. No class at all.

11. Exactly, agreed on all counts.
I also did a "double-wince" when the "new" singer laughed at one of the flubs. Poor guy was too stupid to be embarrassed.
