Today's College Football Thread
Next week we have the conference championship games and a few stragglers playing their final games, but for most this is the last day of the regular season. There are a lot of good games on tap, matchups between ranked teams, in-state rivalries, games with conference titles on the line, and some games that involve all three.

In the early games, Georgia (11) plays Georgia Tech (22). Virginia Tech plays Virginia, and the Hokies will be ACC Coastal Division champs if they win. (If they lose, then Georgia Tech will be Coastal Division Champs.)

In the afternoon, Florida (4) plays Florida State (20)--the Gators are already in the SEC Championship Game, but need to beat the Seminoles to stay in the national title picture. Auburn plays Alabama, with the Crimson Tide in the same position as the Gators. Meanwhile, if Boston College can beat Maryland, they're ACC Atlantic Division Champs. (If they lose, then Florida State will be.)

Among the night games, Oregon (23) plays at Oregon State (17), with a Pac 10 title and Rose Bowl bid on the line for the Beavers. (If OSU loses, USC wins the Pac 10.) Oklahoma (3) plays at Oklahoma State (12), with a win likely putting the Sooners in the Big 12 Championship game against Missouri. The Cowboys have an outside shot at a BCS bowl, if Texas Tech loses to Baylor this afternoon and they beat the Sooners tonight.

So what games are you looking forward to?

36. :( shoulda been
Montana v. Central Arkansas...

but since they're still in transition to Div 1, they couldn't accept the Southland's playoff bid, even though they won the conference outright, and was ranked #13.

Oh well. Go Grizzlies, looks like they won!

It'll be the best football at Arrowhead Stadium all season.

This has been an amazing second half though. Mizzou just scored a touchdown to go up by four with 1:50 left, so it's not over yet ...

4. VT vs. UVA
Watching now, tied at 7. Hokies missed a field goal so it could have been a 10-7 lead.

Tech can't finish in the red zone...so far

I know it is senior day but they need to give up on Glennon. Taylor can take them where they need to go.

Both teams are really young so this should be interesting the next few years.

http://www.angelfire.com/la/uno/unofb.html

The University of New Orleans played its first football game since 1970 earlier this month. The Privateers are fielding a club football team. Though they lost to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, they drew almost 4,000 fans to their sole 2008 home game.

Go Privateers!

today I usually watch the Bayou Classic - I love seeing the bands and play from these historically AA colleges (Southern made a cool Obama graphic on the field) and then Notre Dame later on today. (Irish Catholic kid, what can I say?) : )

I think that without McCoy's skills, we probably would have lost. WVU folk were quite unhappy.

33. GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
My dad can send me my dollar back, now.

We have an annual one-dollar bet, as he played for OSU and I went to UO. Last year I sent him a buck that said FIRE MIKE BELLOTTI in big, thick Sharpie. This year, I think he should send me two. Just cause we beat them that bad.

GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

35. We set a new NCAA record!
Points given up in a regular season! Granted, it took a scheduled 13th game to do it but still, we are in the history books.

2008 Washington State: 2-11 (1-8)
Points total: 165-570
