Open mic poetry thread time.
"The Dignified"

Standing in tallest grass
A field of my own making
Defined as lonely caste
A river for all the taking

Delinquent and diligent
She suffers a common part
The spaces in between sent
As offers to a broken heart

The night, it withers as it passes
Winds will carry on the names it whispers
Skies, stars, clouds above the masses
Sends a message to the lonely sisters

Wheat and chaff, to pick and choose
The grains of life drip into tubes
A subtle prick, a needle insert
Beneath the skin, a mound of hurt

The leaves, they sway with every gust
To change the night and so we must
Begin anew, this lifelong search
To be the view we must have first

A lonely man, a mild smile
A kindred soul, another lie
"Your soul is old", the old man creeps
And in his bed he plays asleep

Tending wounds, invisible to most
Except to those who suffer the host

And how are those who know not when
Or if, or how the lone night ends
Until the dawn cracks, and makes its entrance
And when the eyes cast out, they wildly dance

If she was here, I might have said
The things I never had chance to say
The days go by, and days are spent
Undoing life, undoing day.

Not sure what this one's about, yet, or even if it has any meaning at all. I pieced it together from some emotions I caught in a couple other threads so it's just a piecemeal post, so to say. So, post away.

1. My dear peruban!
It's so melodic, and melancholy, and beautiful!

I really like it...

Especially your last stanza...

...If she was here, I might have said
The things I never had chance to say
The days go by, and days are spent
Undoing life, undoing day.

Thank you for this!

I'll get one of mine in a moment...

2. OK! Here's mine:
"Cold Explosion"

Up under the watch glass
Of the sky
The white clouds
Are flying

Chased by the west winds
Streaming overhead
They explode over me
Flattened by the wind
Against the glassy dome

The day is dying
And the clouds flee
The coming night

In a cold explosion

3. I have to read this one a few times to catch it.
It's very subtle, I always like contradictory phrases like "Up under the watch glass". Sort of reinvents spacial or contemporary relations. Makes one reconsider their own significance of things when confronted by another's willingness to put themselves out there in an unconventional way.

4. OK...
What I meant was that looking up at the clouds as they fly across the sky...

It looks as though they're on the inside of a watch glass, you know, the little dome of glass that's used in labs.

5. I think I know what you mean.
I was a biochem lab tech for a few years but I don't remember glassware specifically like that but the point is clear in any case.

6. OK, so I feel like going for another one.
"Across the Seas"

Oceans deep abroad
Treading only madness calls
A whimper is felt

A haiku, different format for me, but I think this one works. I was thinking about the doubts we can have of our own sanity when we are alone, and the depths to which we will pursue or beg the question even to our own detriment.

7. Worn Out by Work
Tired people, though now burdened by the haze of weary
living, call to mind some frozen images and, thinking
not so clearly,
of their salad days, can still recall the most important
details of those moments that still interest them and matter
to them dearly.

9. "Evening Of An Age."
I think of the gods of eons,
And bend my head to pray;
Centuries gone in an instant
Here at the ebbing of day

The winds, they whisper familiar
Poems of sweet repose,
The leaves in the trees are sighing
As this weary age draws to a close

Families pine in their memories
Days that were carelessly spent
As noontime glides into darkness,
They murmur, and wail, and repent

Of softness and cool in the twilight,
A bird sets its nestlings to right;
And sings of a future in Springtime,
And the rains will fall calmly all night

I Am Yours (If You Are Mine)

Come to me, slide.
I dare you.
All my life, lost without you.

In your eyes, lightning crashes.
Stars caught in the sun
No rain, sex, and candy.

Alive, beds are burning.
Baby can I hold you,
What I got, your love.

I wish you were here
Love hurts heavy.

Come on closer, dig.
Fake it, crawling numb, blurry.

Rise above this. Bring me to life.
Promise?
