Are we Eagles fans low people?
A Philly news program early this morning reported that Giant's WR Plaxico Burress accidently shot himself in the leg at a NYC club while trying to unload his pistol for the club's security guards. He was hospitalized for treatment and released, but he may be facing charges in NYC because he has no permit to carry a gun in that state.

The Channel 10 newswoman gleefully added,"So he may not be playing in the Giants/Eagles game later this month!"

I mean, come on - the guy is too dumb or too loaded to keep his finger off the trigger and shoots himself, may be facing criminal charges and mau also be facing action from the NFL, and she's happy that he might not play against the Eagles? Is this cause for merriment?

Are Eagles fans low enough to rejoice at another's misfortune simply because it may have changed the balance of a sporting contest?

Personally, I don't think he would have contributed that much to the game anyway, but her comment did make me laugh....

5. Thank you for your considered and honest opinion.
The rest of these people are just biased....

4. Let's see...
Eagles fans - the fans that cheered when Michael Irvin suffered a life-threatening injury on the concrete of their old stadium?

Eagles fans - the fans whose notoriously bad behavior required building a functional COURTROOM in their new stadium to sentence offenders on the spot?

THOSE Eagles fans?

Hmmm, maybe?

11. You forgot the time they booed Santa Claus off the field
at a halftime show. :-)

On a more positive note, there is no Section 700 in the new new stadium, hence no "Eagles Court".

8. I'd be ashamed to be associated with a team whose fans wouldn't celebrate that.
Back when Carson Palmer got injured in that playoff game, I leapt from my seat and danced. My two friends looked at me as though I had become Hitler. I told them that hundreds of miles from where we sat people were drinking toasts and celebrating because that's what real fans are like. This newswoman's comment indicates that the Eagles have a highly developed fan culture, even if you do tend to be boo-birds.

9. The only thing amusing is that he almost made the Darwin Awards.
Rooting for players to get injured is unsportsmanlike, but shooting yourself in the foot? (MORAN!!)

10. I just got into this sort of discussion with another DUer when
I said I'd like to see Tony Romo get injured (not killed or paralyzed, mind you, just unable to play - a badly sprained thumb on his throwing hand, for instance) and watch the Cowboys miss the playoffs. It set off a brief sub-thread which ended in me putting my hypersensitive, extremely shocked and offended comrade on ignore. There are plenty of people who will get offended at this sort of thing, but trust me when I say that those "offenders" such as me aren't limited to Eagles fans.

I, on the other hand, laughed at her comment as well. Funny is funny, it simply depends on one's sense of humor. As for Plaxico, he makes it really easy to laugh at him.
