The Obama girls reportedly are interested in this kind of dog:

As someone whose family was made very happy by a Westie's presence, I approve.

9. Westie's are definitely not girly
And I disdain most small dogs.

Those things are pretty damn tough, and not yippy.

11. It doesn't look nearly big and rambunctious enough.
I think they should get a St. Bernard.

6. MAY BE aggressive,
at the same time Dad will think its a 'girlie dog!'

'they may snap when irritated and be combative with other dogs. A lack of leadership on the owners part can cause many behavior problems, such as biting, guarding food and furniture. A Westie who has an owner who knows how to display firm, confident, consistent, leadership will not experience these behavioral problems. These problems can be corrected once the owner becomes the dogs true pack leader.'

10. All the westies I've known have been really sweet
They all were into wanting to take on big dogs, though.

15. I've seen a Westie (he was really friendly) try to pick a fight with a Rottweiler
The Rottweiler was just like, "WTF?" and ignored him.

7. Are they hypo-allergenic?
I think they have one of those double coats and have to be "plucked" to maintain the coat. That always dissuaded me from getting one, although I love terriers. There are some in our agility club. They always do very well, but have an experienced trainer.

12. They're pretty hypoallergenic
And, at least they're a real breed, instead of some overpriced "doodle" or "-a-poo" mongrel. I love mutts, but not ones that are passed off as real breeds of dogs.

They do need regular grooming, though.

14. A "terrorist" in the White House
:wow:

Man, that dog will run those girls ragged. They'll wear out before it does....on the upside, it will keep the White House free of rats & "help" the gardeners dig in the gardens. ;)

18. That is a cute puppy! My mom had a Scotty when she met my dad,
so I have a soft spot for Scotties and Westies.
But on November 7th I found this little mutt on Petfinder, thought she was just right, and forwarded her page to Obama's senate email. I chose "Animal Welfare" as the subject. ;)

Well, she is probably going to be adopted by someone, so I feel better, but I was hoping...
