downloading Open Office

Good gawd, I've got a super fast connection and it's going to take 5 1/2 hours to download?

Am I doing something wrong?

I just started a d/l from a mirror in CA and my d/l time is still under 15 minutes.

7. Select save instead of run..

I made the same mistake this morning. Run was a 5 hr download and saving it was only 20 min.

... that's according to Firefox Download window.

Are you going the P2P route? Or a direct download? Or as someone else stated, selecting "Run" instead of "Save" (though FF gave me only two choices, Save or Cancel) ?

9. AHA! Thanks y'all!

I think "save" v. "download" will do the trick.

I got mad at the thing and stopped it after about 10 minutes.

I don't know what kind of speed I have, except that I'm on a fast DSL connection and have a computer that can do AutoCAD and Photoshop - so it's pretty powerful... I guess.

Anyway, I appreciate the advice, and will get back to the download tomorrow.

10. Speed of your connection is not the problem

The speed of the server downloading to you is the problem. It doesn't matter if you have a 6 inch firehose at your end if the other end is fed by a 1/2 inch garden hose.
