Nancy Kerrigan is still skating
It's hard to believe it was 1994 when she was attacked...

She still skates surprisingly well.

3. There is no excuse for that
I never really cared for her. Seemed like a big whine baby to me.

7. Glad to hear that -- I confirms what I've always thought about her
She was rude to David Lettermen's mother when she interviewed her at the Olympics. And, even though she didn't deserve the attck on her, I reached the point when I wished she would just STFU about the whole thing, she was so annoying. She deserved to win the Gold that year, but that's it.

15. I've long thought she was a snot
I went to see the Campbell's skating tour the summer after that Olympics. She came out & skated rather blah, gave a brief wave to the audience, then left the ice never to be seen again. No encore, like the other skaters. Oksana, otoh, came out & skated the same program from the Olympics TWICE, back to back, just sparkling on the ice & responding very well with the crowd that by now was going nuts over her. After that, I was always glad Oksana won the gold.

8. When that happened, I was working at the Harvard Coop
and "borrowed" one of the magazines (I don't think it was Newsweek, but it was one of the covers with that pic)... I ripped off the cover and cut out the eyes and mouth. I walked around work with the cover on my face screaming, "why me!?"

13. She apparently used to go to the dentist on the first floor
of my company's old office. Stories are that she was a total diva; she'd show hours late (and sometimes a day) and make a big scene because she couldn't be seen when she wanted to.

9. Dear Nancy...I saw you when you were a guest host on SNL.
I want those horrid, cringeworthy 90 minutes of my life back again. Thanks.

11. When I drove a tour trolley in Boston, she was getting married at a church off
Newbury Street and as they were coming out of the church the trolley in front of mine started chanting "Tanya, Tanya, Tanya...." That was so funny the people on my trolley started doing the same thing as we drove by.

12. That is funny
Though part of me knows it's wrong to laugh.

Odd, isn't it, how we find ourselves feeling sorry for Tonya Harding? I think maybe it's because she was from the wrong side of the tracks. Maybe it's because Nancy Kerrigan acted like a princess but talked smack when she thought the mic was off (on more than one occasion).

16. I 've always thoght that Tonya Harding was the most
talented skater in the early 90's. The triple axel she landed at Nats in 1991 was almost as good as Midori Ito's and better than some of the men at the time. She was from the wrong side of the tracks and that fact was very critical why she did what she did. Figure skating is a snobby sport. Judges, coaches and even the fans can be really lousy to someone they don't think "belongs" to their insular world.

I'm not excusing what she did, but I can understand why she went the way she did.
