Poll question: Guitar Hero or Rockband? |
|
which would you get for Christmas, if you could only afford one? It's for LeftyKid. Both have bands he likes. I can't decide.
All I know is that if he steals my real guitar and bounces it down the stairs at 7 am again, it's on.
Yes, he already has his own real guitar. He likes mine better. This is just for fun.

2. Played "Rockband" with my older bro and his crew last weekend |
|
Lots of fun.
And if you can play Guitar Hero, you can totally play Rockband.

but I might be a bit biased, because I played it for quite some time before getting Rockband, as a matter of fact I just got Rock Band tonight, I traded in some games and got it.
BTW, the Guitar Hero World Tour guitar, will NOT work on the Rock Band I game...I had to buy a used RB guitar in order to play RB I.
I prefer Guitar Hero though, better songs(except online, RB has a huge download selection, but you gotta pay for that as well, I think 5 bucks a song or so)...but pound for pound, I think Guitar Hero is better. GH World Tour is pretty damn good.

5. Haven't tried Guitar Hero but we love Rock Band |
|
It's the only video game my wife has played more than once. We chose RB because Guitar Hero didn't offer multiple instruments when we bought it last Christmas.
I'm impressed with its clever touches, like the guitarist looking at his watch during long drum solos.
The set list is a nice mix of familiar songs and obscure gems from most eras of music since 1967.
We're now very popular aunts and uncles. Our siblings kids love it and their parents are amazed that their kids are enjoying a video game with no violence. It's also a game that a lot of people can enjoy, four people can play at a time.
If your console lets you download songs it's about 2 bucks a song, with special deals occasionally (The Colbert track is free)
Of course it helps if you have good speakers connected to the TV since it's a game that should be played loud.
Allegedly the RB controllers work with Guitar Hero but we haven't confirmed that since Blockbuster never has a copy in stock when we stop by.

6. I personally like the tracklist for Guitar Hero World Tour a little better than Rockband. |
|
Mostly the same songs, but a few differences that lean GH into my favour.
