1. You know.. this thought had entered my mind

I haven't met many vegetarians/vegans in person. I always am curious if they smell different or if I do. I know the odor of certain spices seep through pours, but does meat (or abscence of).

I may need to do a study on this hypothisis.

:P

PS: too much time on my hands

2. yes, yes it does.
When the boys dad was still living with us - for a while after we turned vegetarian, he tried to be vegetarian also, but he decided could eat meat when he was out of town - how would we know? The minute he walked in the door, we knew. He smelled.

He quit trying to pretend after awhile and would eat veggie at home and meat when gone (which was a lot). Now he's gone ALL the time! For which I am very very grateful. (@sshole - being a veggie wasn't the only think he pretended at being.)

4. Yah, vegetarians can smell carnivores,
but I haven't noticed that vegetarians have a distinctive odor, and I have some experience sniffing vegetarians, since I was married to one.

However, if they're accustomed to eating, say Indian cuisine, you can sure detect that.

The Japanese strongly disliked the smell of Europeans in early encounters. Partly because they weren't in the habit of regular bathing, and partly due to diet.
