What are your favorite bizzare snack foods?
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 08:46 PM by AspieGrrl
I like to pan-fry dried wakame seaweed in a bit of olive oil. It doesn't need any seasonings, since it's already salty and slightly spicy. And delicious.

Also, chickpeas are awesome with Frank's Red Hot buffalo wing sauce.

6. I like putting Frank's Red Hot on salt and vinegar chips.
My mouth hates me afterward, but dear lord, so tasty.

Tortillas (not tortilla chips) dipped in zesty Italian dressing is another one.

Dunno how weird they are, but they're both delicious.

10. It's because you're Canadian. Canadian's have unusual taste in potato chips.
It was like a bonanza last time I was in Nova Scotia. Gravy chips, pickle chips, chicken chips (those did not look tasty) and my favorite, ketchup chips. :9

I mean, I haven't noticed any when I've been in the states. Perhaps Canada is just superior. :P

30. Here in the South we have Dill Pickle chips
Nasty things IMO. Never heard of ketchup chips.

One brand here used to have Caribbean Chips with a sort of hot citrus flavoring but they've discontinued those.

16. Roast chicken chips taste very similar to gravy chips, actually.
Gravy is a little more rich, I think. Been a while since I've had them.

When it comes to potato chips though, it's all about these:

spicy and salty tamarind sweets

salted lever (seaweed)

squid jerky

shrimp chips

spiced chevda (chickpea flour fried bits with a dried masala, often with coriander, anise, and peppercorn seeds lathered in crushed pepper powder)

sweet potato puff chips

extruded fish sausage on a stick soaked in broth

blood sausage, often w/ bean sprout noodles inside the wrapped intestine

avocado mashed up to a butter consistency and spread over 7-grain bread

salted licorice -- sweet licorice is great too

teaberry candy (tastes like Pepto Bismol)

salted, limed, and chilied fruit

edit: almost forgot pulvoron, dessert made of pretty much evaporated and powdered milk pressed into a pastry shape, delicious

that and bibinkang, squishy sticky rice cake slathered with crushed coconut and caramel

y'know, the usual.
