Don't really know why. Just seems like the thing to do right now.

Here's me from a couple of years ago during an awards ceremony.

27. Yes, it is like that...
In fact, one of the procedures we do is plasmapheresis...

But our main product is the collection of platelets. They are critical for clotting, and they are needed all the time.

There are strict rules about how often any blood product can be donated, so that the body can recover appropriately...

31. So, were you on one of the travelling blood drive teams?
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 11:12 PM by Critters2
The church has them come every few months. I always help with setting up, and then help at the refreshment table. I need to check whether I can give blood again. I had hepatitis A (don't know when, they found out about it when I donated blood), and had to stop giving. I don't even know if that was permanent, or a certain number of months or what.

Anyway, you reminded me I need to check on that.

The Red Cross does great work! Thanks, Peg!

36. I travelled when all I did was whole blood collections.
Apheresis requires a machine, and so far, those are found only in the donor sites, which are permanent.

I don't believe having Hep A is a permanent deferral, but I'm no longer up on the rules....

Ah, you're welcome, sweetie!

Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 11:51 AM by Lorien
Ours was a sequel to begin with. I've never seen any of those straight to video DVDs. I think that the company is finally cutting back on them now.

Geez-I wish that they would just get the Feature Department back up and running permanently. They're working on ONE film now-"The Frog Princess"-but have nothing else in pre-production. Everyone will be back out on the streets once the current production wraps. They'll never get it; it's not computer animation or traditional animation that makes for a great film; it's a good STORY. And for the record; traditional animation is faster and cheaper.

"Pokeherhotass" after "Pocahontas" was released. Never seen any of them though.

Disney animators did there own version. There's actually an x-rated "Snow white" animated sequence that was done back during that production. And some of the storyboards that would pop up on the wall...well, all that G-rated fare and the 80 hour work weeks would start to get to people!

73. What do you do for a living, Miss H?
Your work area looks something like one of my sisters'. She works in a library.

77. Cool!
I'm trying to get a job at the library where my sister works right now. It's for the shipping and receiving department. Our public library has several branches and they ship books between the branches every day. I don't know if your's works the same way.

I doubt I will get the job, but they were kind enough to send me a post card saying that they were reviewing all applications. They may be looking for someone younger than me as it is an entry level position. They aren't supposed to discriminate due to age, but my resume and work experience would give them a pretty good clue as to how old I am.

78. I know what you mean
we don't have it at my library here but when I was an intern in Savannah, GA they had drivers who carried the books between the branches.
I cross my fingers and send ~~~~VIBES~~~~ over the ocean that you get the position.

98. its an old King Zephyr---bought for 200 $ in a pawn shop in about 1981
Been playing Rovner metal mouthpieces for years; just got the newest one a few months ago. Great for honkin' blues and R&B.... Not a jazz guy at all, although will bs my way through some if necessary. I'm actually more of a singer/ harp player but been working on the sax pretty hard the last couple of years to try to bring it up to at least halfway close to my singing/harping.....that band is sort of on the back burner too , which is too bad musically, but OK personally; the 2 newest members turned out to be in one case , sort of a jerk, and in the other case, a flat out asshole. Rest of the guys are great guys but even among them, 2 are republicans, (as are the major and minor jerks)...The great big guy is the only other progressive in the band, and the cognitive dissonance of doing black music with republicans was pretty damn weird. Still miss it musically though ,although we'll still take good paying party gigs that come our way. What kind of stuff do you play? If its in KC, I have a friend from here, who loves music, including blues, who's living in KC for a while and I'll tell him about your band if you gig there much............ abq e streeter

99. "What kind of stuff do you play?"
Mostly post-bebop, west coast school of "cool." Have a friend--fellow saxophonist--also plays guitar. He and I have played off and on for about 37 years. Mostly casuals. He and I met in San Diego and we formed a band for weekend gigs. Don't do much now other than what comes along. He now lives in Europe but passes through here every few years or so. I also play (upright) bass and have jammed with him with just the two of us--guitar and bass.

As the song goes, "I don't get around much any more."
