7. I could tell you some epic stories about breakdowns... |
|
On my way home from Auburn, NY. Radiator sprung a leak. As car was limping, picked up a hitch-hiker. I limped him home...he got me water for the car.
Very rural....house had about 10 kids in it, 20 dogs, and dog crap all over the house. Still remember it....30 years ago. House was a real circus!
I know what you mean about the V-8'S!
I'm not familiar with the term three's and eights?

8. I once picked up a hitchhiker |
|
and drove him into the Salmon River. And when I say into, I mean flying off a twenty foot high bank and landing upside down.
Teach him...

I just googled it.
I have epic breakdown stories. The best is probably an exploded u-joint on a mountain pass late in the day on highway 2 near the Chihuahua/Sonora border. Same van. With 13 Germans. Highway 2 is a major trucking route east and west just below the international line. Those guys fly through there. It just a typical Mexican "highway" 6 inch shoulders, big drop offs, narrow, one lane each way. Fun times. We finally got off the mountain around ten that night. Some guy in a pick-up drug the van to the top and his buddy rode it down the other side. Did I mention the battery died too? We actually had two vans on that trip. The 78 chevy hippy van held out better. We were hauling the luggage in it and used it to ferry everybody to Douglas, but it took two trips. What a night.

except his also had an 8-track in it, too. We used to listen to Anne Murray on road trips to the cabin up north.

12. OMG 8 tracks are the work of the devil, but Anne Murray is cool |
|
I was so glad when 8 tracks were replaced with cassettes. Nothing worse than liking only 2 songs on the whole 8 track tape, having to listen to a song just to a certain point on track 3, then having to switch to track 1 to listen to the song I wanted to listen to in the first place...

How did you keep the hamsters alive all this time? Or do you breed 'em especially for the Vega's engine? :-)

|
A small-block Chevy will drop right into a Vega, so all the motorheads bought these things, installed SBCs and rollcages, and are now drag-racing the hell out of them.
