Never wear a jersey in public
if you don't know the outcome of the match. I am standing in the hot cocoa isle and a guy sees my Liverpool (Steven Gerrard) jersey and yells Liverpool 2 nil over Chelsea! I was speechless and I didn't have the heart to tell him I hadn't watched it yet. I didn't even think about it. It's a weekend, super bowl weekend no less it is the only time I can wear a jersey of any sort. I mean who is watching English football in the middle of Iowa? One guy was- I should have worn the Wexford hurling jersey when people ask and I say hurling their first word is curling?

did you watch it anyway? How could you not be thinking about it? :wtf:

I saw it live on FSC... great match. They deserved the points.

I love that y'all have a sport called 'hurling'. :D

2. Not yet
watched the highlights- Bosingwa will need a body guard the next time he shows his face at Anfield. How you don't see something like that is beyond belief. If you don't see a kick to the back what else are you missing during play?

3. I thought the bigger outrage was Lampard getting a straight red.
That was utter bullshit.

7. Keane back to spurs

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement for the transfer of Robbie Keane back to the Club from Liverpool. Personal terms have been agreed and a medical completed.

To bad he grew up a Liverpool fan but I think he just tried too hard or something?

8. He was finding his form around Christmas.
He scored against us... and two against Bolton I think.

He was then left out for the next few matches... no explanation. Rafa treated him terribly IMO.

9. Reminds me of when I lived in the UK in 1991 during the World Series
The 1991 World Series (Twins vs. Braves) has been called one of the most exciting series every by ESPN.

I worked in a pub in London with a bunch of ex-pat Americans, and we were all watching game 7 on tape delay from the previous day. My hometown Twins were in their second series in five years, and had tied the series at 3-3 in extra innings in game 6, after falling behind 3-2 to the Braves after 5 games.

We were at the 7th inning of game 7 (which went 10 innings that year), watching a truly edge-of-our-seats type game. Then, one of our co-workers comes into the lounge and says, "oh yeah, the Twins won".

We gave him a ten-second head start to get away, because we were ready to hang him by his toenails after giving that one away.

10. Chelsea Man United last year
I was in northern MN for a week with no media, nothing- I taped the final and just five minutes before I sat down to watch I checked my email for the first time in 10 days. First message subject line....
Man United wins in overtime on penalty kicks!

11. Okay, that plain sucks for at least two reasons
1) because you read it before you could watch the match, and
2) I used to live less than a mile from Stamford Bridge :(

12. I watched
I thought maybe the emailer (who shall remain forever on my list) got it wrong because I could not figure out how United was going to win? I mean Ronaldo misses then John Terri slips what a finish.

16. My grandfather was a hurler
Played it growing up in Cork, then on a team of ex-pats in Boston. Had the dents in his shins to prove it, too!

19. First time (not for squeamish)
I was in Kings pub in Clifden (Connemara) watching a match. One of the players got hit in the mouth by another (cross check like hockey) He gets up, spits out at least three teeth, drops them on the ground and plays on.
