If you could only have one: HD or DVR

HD is cool, but DVR has changed my life (ok, not really, but I really like it).

6. Oh boy....

I am so hooked on our TIVO. I mean, it is like a crazy monkey on my back. If I travel - I know I will not have TIVO... I get sort of paranoid knowing I can't watch my shows at my own pace, when I want to watch them and how... It seems silly I know but I admit, I am a junkie.

I love our HDTV too - we have Blue Ray (in the PS3) and it is stunning. I also TIVO most of our shows in HDTV -

But if I had to give one up... there is no question - Bye-bye HD. :(

And TIVO has totally changed how we do stuff - We are not slaves to the time we watch something - Never take away TIVO.

I got rid of my cable when I got laid off and there's really nothing to watch on tv now. I rent a lot of movies instead.

so I went with HD.

However, I recently upgraded my Dish receiver and it's both HD and DVR

I just wish we had Freeview here in the States.

My sister and her hubby have the Humax Freeview PVR (they call them personal video recorders instead). For about $250.00 you can buy this, just plug it in and you got about 25 (more actual channels based on timesharing) channels you can play with, and you don't have to have any extra subscription. Of course there's the TV licence but then you have to have that to watch any TV and it pays for the BBC so you get about 6 full-time commercial free channels (there's 8 but 4 channels have to timeshare - CBeebies and CBBC in the day, BBC Three and BBC Four at night). Oh, and there's usually more to watch on these channels than I have on my Time Warner digital cable set up here.

I think DVR is the more important technology. I've seen HD, and I wasn't really impressed.
