'Paint It Black' song in TV ad recently, Who does it?
It's just a snippet of the song, been on TV in an ad for perhaps a week or less. Singer is female, song is done in a very 'Goth' style. I don't think it's from the Inkubus Sukkubus version found on you-tube, it seems a bit slower. Anyone know who does this?

1. Well, just in case....
It's become an ear-worm for me and I'm craving more, so please keep me in mind if any of you run across any info about it. Thanx ahead of time.

Oh well, no harm done! :hi: No, I'm looking for a version done in a recent TV ad with a female vocalist, thanks anyway.

5. I don't recall
 sorry, ... I guess I should have mentioned that I don't recall the advertisement. I was so captured by the version of the song that I totally missed the ad! I think it might have been one of the Superbowl ads but I am not sure now because I think I may have heard it at least once prior to the Superbowl.

15. rofl: Rammstein!!!
I didn't know that Rammstein covered that song too.... that's just tooooo funny!!! Now I've gotta go look! None of the other names ring a bell, not that I had any names to work with when I posted the OP. (btw, I've got one of Rammstein's albums, even saw them once a few years back, liked 'em ok but I can not picture them doing covers of ANYTHING Rolling Stones!)

18. Rammstein is an interesting band imo
They were/(are?) very powerful and the lyrics, all in German left much to the imagination. When I saw them, they opened for someone else but I was there to see them and have long ago forgotten who they opened for...perhaps it was Slipknott, (another interesting band).

I believe that I've found who I was looking for. QueenOfCalifornia found the singer for me and it wasn't too hard to find the version of the song in my ear-worm snippet from there. Thank you for your efforts as well. :pals:

14. See reply 7
QueenOfCalifornia found a close vocal match. I've heard soooooo many versions of Paint It Black over the past couple of hours lately so I am not 100% sure at the moment but I think she may indeed be the vocalist I was looking for. I'll know for sure once I find the version in the advertisement, (if it's out there).

9. Sorry, no clue about the advertisement
I had company over on Superbowl Sunday both prior to and after the game. I caught the song but missed the ad. It was later that this version turned up as an ear-worm for me. I spent awhile on You Tube lookin for it but no luck there either. I found this one which also has a female vocalist who sounds like the one I recall from the ad but it isn't quite the same: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCjq-3g9ewU&feature=related
The version in the ad was sung even more 'Goth' like and a bit slower, it was quite haunting to me and I was hoping to find the entire version of it somewheres online. Sorry, I truly have nothing more to work with....I figured/hoped someone else here might know more.
btw: thanx for the love :pals:

10. Bingo I think!
That's the voice or pretty darn close to it. If it's her, she did a somewhat slower, more Goth version of it in the advertisement I heard. That voice closely matches the ear-worm I have, now I have something to work with! Thanx for the help QueenOfCalifornia.

13. it could have just been recorded for the ad
that way they wouldn't have to pay publishing royalties to this person that they're sort-of mimicking.

17. BINGO BINGO BINGO!!!!!
Here is the version I heard: http://video.google.com/videosearch?hl=en&q=vanessa+carlton,+paint+it+black&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&resnum=4&ct=title#

I'm still not sure which advertisement I heard her sing the snippet in, don't really care at this point because now I have an entire version to go with the earworm! I really love this rendition too btw, now I'll be getting her CD soonest! Thank you very much QueenOfCalifornia
