PSE&G billing
This is the first year I've had to pay my own heating bills directly. Has PSE&G always demanded a large deposit amount at the beginning of service? I'm having difficulty paying my already over-priced heating bill when the energy company is also expecting me to pay most of the deposit in addition.

1. I don't know about PSE&G but...
You should be able to negotiate installments toward the deposit, make all of your payments in a timely fashion and after some period of good payment history no longer have to have a deposit.

I'm pretty useless to you, living in California, but you should have a NJ PUC public utility commission who can help you.

Good luck. Try this: http://www.bpu.state.nj.us/

2. It's been a while
but we needed to leave a deposit for PSE&G

I guess you still do. I really hope there is some kind of help for you. I would think there is some kind of advocate group to help the consumer. good luck!!

4. Unfortunately, the lower prices at the pump
aren't equating to lower prices for gas-powered heat. I especially love the "balancing charge" PSE&G tacks onto our bills.
