It's not addictive in the sense that there is withdrawel symptons if you don't use it.

However, I have seen people who just get so obsessed with it they can't go to the bathroom without first getting
stoned. My ex-boyfriend had a roommate like that who was definately some form of addiction with pot. I suppose it's better to call it an obsession and not an addiction.

20. I have to wholeheartedly second this. I was 38 when I finally tried it for the first time...

...a few years ago. It's just wrong, wrong, wrong that it's criminalized. It doesn't make you sick the way alcohol can, isn't addictive, makes food, music & sex even better, is a great stress reliever, and kills cramps faster than anything I've ever tried in my life.

I think it has something to do with the fact that my parents smoked until I was 12, and I had nearly chronic lung infections from it - and I KNOW, for those who'll say it isn't the same, that it's not, BUT, I have a nearly pathological hatred of smoke in virtually any form.

That's not all of it though, as I also have never drunk alcohol (I've tasted some, but the most I've ever drunk was a large sip of mead at my wedding), and have never tried any illegal drugs - and have no desire to.

Closest I've come to such things is prescription painkillers - I've taken ONE pill after one surgery, and HATED how I felt...like my head was completely disconnected from my legs. I've had several surgeries since and never taken painkillers since. Fortunately, I haven't had much pain at all from any of my surgeries, but it's have to be a lot for me to consider taking strong painkillers again.

about the evils of drugs are such a crock, and that the drug laws/war on drugs are a scam and a colossal waste of time and money except for lawyers, the prison industry and everyone with a vested interest in making sure people don't see through the cultural/political bullshit they're spoonfed every day. And this is from someone who no longer smokes, for my own reasons, but vigorously defends the god-given right of others to do so. Phelps is one more example of people who get stoned who accomplish great things in life. I have friends who get stoned every day ( and/or did for many years like me) who are enormously successful in their professions, and for that matter even old acid-heads ( and I'm talking LOTS of acid) who have likewise achieved greatness in their fields. So for reasons quite opposite of how the corporate media wants to spin it, it IS a significant story.

I usually don't give a rat's ass (or any other kind of ass for that matter) about showboating, preening, publicity loving Sheriffs in South Carolina. We've had more than our share in the Gret Stet. (of Looziana -Ed.) I suspect that the NOLA teevee stations are still pining for Harry Lee who was the ultimate showboat. If there's an after life, Harry is probably holding press conferences and showing off his latest Mardi Gras throws...

On to today's malaka: Leon Lott is the Sheriff of Richland County in Secessionville aka South Carolina. Recently, pictures surfaced of Aquaman aka Michael Phelps smoking pot in Columbia, SC, which is in Sheriff Malaka's jurisdiction. Phelps has acknowledged imbibing herb and apologized for a lapse in judgment, yadda, yadda, yadda. The story should have ended then and there but Sheriff Lott realized that he had a golden opportunity to preen, posture and moralize by threatening Phelps with charges. Who's a bigger catch than Michael Phelps? Nobody. Who's a bigger malaka than Leon Lott? Lots of people but he'll do for now...

I love this quote from Lott's spokesmalaka:

"The bottom line is, if he broke the law, and he did it in Richland County, he's going to be charged. And there's no difference between Michael Phelps and several other people that we arrest for the same type of a charge everyday."

Apparently Adrastos (who, it turns out, unbeknownst to either of us, was at a Dead show with me back in '88!) agrees with you about the rat's posterior...

that this is also my attitude towards Michael Phelps as a whole. What he did was incredible, but the Summer Games and swinning mean nothing to me.
